Ozon Local Sales Share: How It Drives Your Ranking

Ozon Local Sales Share: How It Drives Your Ranking

Why local sales share matters more than any ad budget

On Ozon, local sales share is the single heaviest ranking factor in logistics. In our tests of ranking factors, it accounts for roughly 40% of the influence on product position, traffic and sales volume. The higher your share, the better your position and the more you sell. That is why our growth work leans on logistics as much as on ads, promotions and price.

What local sales share is

It is the share of orders delivered to the buyer from the same cluster where the item was stored, without shipping it in from another region. You can find it in the seller cabinet under Analytics, Sales Locality. It replaced Average Delivery Time as the main logistics metric.

The non-local surcharge and how Ozon keeps changing it

Alongside the metric, Ozon introduced a surcharge on non-local supply: an extra fee for every delivery from another cluster. The platform then cancelled it, brought it back and changed the logic more than once. At one point it zeroed the surcharge for all clusters during a transition period for new supply requests, and under the contract the surcharge is locked for 60 days from the date a request is created. These rules change regularly, so check the current terms in your cabinet before every shipment.

The key point holds regardless of the surcharge: local sales share affects all your sales through search position. Ozon can add or remove a fee, but the metric stays.

How to raise local sales share

These are practical conclusions from our work, not platform requirements:

  1. Track stock by cluster, not for the warehouse as a whole. If an item runs out in one cluster, orders start coming from others and your local share drops.
  2. Supply the clusters where demand actually comes from. Use order history by region as your guide.
  3. Avoid zero stock in key clusters. Such gaps hit both position and sales.
  4. Plan supply around seasonality: bring in more before the season even if current sales are modest.
  5. Monitor the metric regularly, not once a quarter.

This is exactly the routine we hand to AI agents: they calculate days of cover for every item and cluster and suggest where and how much to restock. You can read more about these agents on our AI implementation page.

Watch your logistics cost too

To understand what delivery and storage actually cost you, use Ozon's logistics and warehouse placement references, and calculate final profit per item in a profit calculator. If sales are falling and you cannot see why, start with an audit - logistics will be one of the first items in it. We review and rebuild Ozon stores as part of that work.
