Product photo shoots for Ozon and Wildberries can be done with AI. A shoot with a model plus retouching used to cost around $170 to $250; today the same result takes a couple of minutes. Below is how we got there, how to brief an AI tool, what Ozon moderation expects, and how much of our card content is already AI-made.
What it cost before and what it costs now
One way to raise a store's profit is to cut costs. A photo shoot with a model plus retouching of the final frames used to cost $170 to $250. A while ago we learned to get the same result with AI, and the output is often even better.
There are plenty of services now, local and international. We do not name specific ones: pick whatever fits your task and budget, as long as it can work with references.
How to brief the AI so you get a usable result
AI tools today handle hands, text, clothing and product shape well enough. Problems come from the brief, not from the tool:
- Be specific. Describe exactly what you want, in what form and in what setting. A vague brief gives a vague result.
- Show your product. Attach references: photos of the product from different sides and angles, so the AI understands its scale and shape and reproduces them correctly.
What about Ozon moderation
There are no moderation problems as long as you follow the platform rules. Ozon does not care who made the image: a designer, you in a graphic editor, or an AI tool. What matters is that the frames meet the platform's requirements.
How to check that an image sells
Photos and infographics are always an A/B test. We test the first variant, then the second, compare what worked better, then check the next hypothesis, and so on. Not every variant works. Through this chain of tests you find the variant that delivers a healthy sales volume. The goal is more clicks (CTR) and higher conversion. We do not have separate numbers on conversion growth from AI photos specifically, so we are not quoting any: test it on your own cards.
How much of our content is already AI-made
About 30 to 35% of our cards today contain AI-generated images. A year and a half ago that figure was around 5%. The volume of materials produced with AI (cards, designs, copy, SEO) has grown 5 to 10 times.
Where to start
- Pick 3 to 5 products and prepare references from different angles.
- Generate several frame variants and assemble the cards.
- Run an A/B test and compare CTR and conversion.
- Scale what works.
To see how much you save, compare the cost of a shoot with your profit. And if you want to build AI into your store's processes, tell us about the task on our AI implementation page.
